The Lumbar to host Cantina Tortilla Grill for summer pop-up
The Lumbar is hosting Cantina Tortilla Grill for a kitchen takeover through the summer as Cantina prepares for its move to a new location in Avondale. During the pop-up, which is set to begin Thursday, May 9, The Lumbar kitchen will be fully powered by Cantina.
Tim Hightower, co-founder of The Lumbar, says the DNA of The Lumbar is going to remain unchanged. “We’re still going to be offering our full drink menu, which features 26 beers on tap, local beer, wine, and craft cocktails,” Hightower says.
Cantina will be serving fresh Mexican dishes Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.; Friday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.; and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.
“We’ll continue serving many of our most popular dishes on a special lunch and dinner menu,” says Jorge Castro, chef and owner of Cantina Tortilla Grill. “This is an opportunity for everyone to still enjoy some of their favorites in Pepper Place while we work on our new space.”
Guests can expect The Lumbar to continue its Saturday brunch, featuring Hatch Green and Hatch Red Chile breakfast burritos, mimosas, beermosas, Hatch Green Chile Bloody Marys, Sangria Galaxy Chillers and Irish coffee. Brunch hours are 8-11 a.m. every Saturday, with Cantina’s lunch menu beginning at 11 a.m.
“Since we opened our doors in Pepper Place, we’ve built many relationships with the surrounding business owners, including Jorge,” said Hightower. “We’re excited to team up with Cantina during this transition and bring the community a one-of-a-kind pop-up.”
